Summer arrived in force and in Famalicão, the City Council decided to launch a special edition of the "Dias à Mesa" initiative, to enhance and promote the municipality's gastronomy as a crosscutting tourist product during this period, offering discounts on meals that may reach 40 per cent. The Dias à Mesa – Summer Special edition starts on July 24th and runs until September 6th, in 14 restaurants.
According to the councillor of Tourism, Augusto Lima, "this initiative has as a great objective to attract more people to our restoration, making the sector more dynamic, and helping to regain people's confidence after the consequences that the pandemic brought to the sector", indicated the responsible. "Each restaurant will serve its menu through a policy of discounts that we consider very attractive so that people can go to restaurants during the summer", he added.
The councillor of the economy and entrepreneurship, who is the same from Tourism, also pointed out that the restaurants of Famalicão are prepared to receive customers during the pandemic. "Our restaurants have the sanitary conditions to receive customers safely and therefore we appeal for people to come to the restaurants without any kind of fear in order to also support the restaurants and help the sector recover".
As explained by Augusto Lima, the initiative is based on a strong campaign of discounts and offers, associated with a practice of encouraging the sharing of gastronomic experiences in social networks.
In the opening week (from July 24th to August 2nd) and the closing week (from August 28th to September 6th), the menus presented by the participating restaurants will be sold at a discount of 40 percent during the weekdays and 20 percent at the weekend (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday).
During the whole month of August, the social network sharing campaign will be in effect. Each customer shares a photo in the restaurant, including obligatory the hashtag #Diasamesaverão and the identification of the restaurant. Each Share in the social networks Facebook and Instagram is worth one dessert offer (according to the selection of the restaurant).
At the tenth share, the customer is awarded with a 50% discount on the meal he is having. To enjoy this offer, the customer must have shared 10 photos from at least five different restaurants, thus ensuring a wide range of the participating restaurants.
The participating restaurants are Alfa; Attrevidu; BIS – Pasta&Risotto; Bubbles; Caso; Cubata; Petiscaria da Vila; Dona Maria Pregaria; Forever; Garfo Dourado; Lós Pepes Mexicano; Me.At; Mikado; Porky’s and Sabores do Algarve.
We recall that Dias à Mesa is an initiative to promote good regional cuisine, promoted by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, in close collaboration with local restaurants. It takes place throughout the year, with an attractive and diversified programme, which lives up to Famalicão's fame as a place of good food.
After the success achieved in 2019, the Dias à Mesa returned in 2020 with more initiatives, more restaurants joining in and even more reasons for attraction. Initially, ten events were scheduled, four of them were cancelled due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, between the months of April and June. With the reopening of the restaurants and the confinement period, the Dias à Mesa returned in July, reinforcing the new municipal strategy for tourism, which combines gastronomy and cultural entertainment.
After the Codfish, the Dias à Mesa return in September, with the Vegetarian cuisine. In November, there is room for the chestnut and pasta.
